Granite dealers in Ahmedabad Granite for surfaces that work hard
Black Galaxy, Absolute Black and other Indian and imported granites for kitchen countertops, staircases, flooring and façades — cut, edged and installed by Stonedge.
Why granite is still the workhorse of Indian homes
Granite is an igneous stone formed from slowly cooled magma, made largely of quartz and feldspar. That mineral make-up makes it hard (around 6–7 on the Mohs scale), dense and highly resistant to heat, scratches and the everyday spills of an Indian kitchen. It is the natural choice wherever a surface takes daily punishment: kitchen counters, staircases, entrance lobbies, commercial floors and exterior cladding.
India is one of the world’s largest granite producers, and South India in particular supplies some of the most sought-after varieties. Stonedge stocks popular Indian granites such as Black Galaxy and Absolute Black, alongside a rotating selection of other colours for countertops and floors.
Varieties, colours and patterns
Granite ranges from near-uniform blacks to speckled greys, browns, greens and blues, and from fine to coarse grain. Uniform blacks give a sleek, contemporary counter; speckled varieties hide crumbs and water marks; and dramatic “movement” granites create statement islands. Our team can help you balance appearance with practicality — and with the rest of your materials, from cabinets to flooring.

Choosing
How to choose granite for your project
- Start with the use. Counters need dense, low-porosity stone; exteriors need a textured finish; floors need consistency across many slabs.
- Look at full slabs. Granite patterns vary across a slab; check colour, fleck size and any patches in daylight.
- Check the colour is natural. Some dark granites are dyed. A reputable supplier will let you test an offcut.
- Plan joints and cut-outs. For kitchens, plan where joints fall before cutting.
- Buy from one lot. Add 10–15% for cutting so you are not short of the same colour later.

Applications
Where to use granite
- Kitchen countertops and islands — heat-safe for hot pans, resistant to knives and most household stains.
- Staircases — treads with polished or flamed surfaces and bull-nose edges cut in our workshop.
- Flooring — lobbies, corridors, parking ramps and commercial spaces with heavy footfall.
- Exteriors — façade cladding, compound walls, steps and landscaping in flamed or leather finish for grip.
- Vanities and window sills — durable, low-maintenance surfaces in wet areas.
Finishes
Granite finishes and what they are for
- Polished — mirror-like shine that deepens colour; ideal for counters and indoor floors.
- Honed — smooth matt surface; contemporary look with fewer visible reflections.
- Leather — soft, textured feel that hides fingerprints and water spots on counters.
- Flamed — rough, slip-resistant surface made with a high-temperature torch; used outdoors and on steps.
Not every granite suits every finish — some colours lighten noticeably when flamed. Our guide to stone finishes explains the differences.
Price & care
Price factors and easy care
Granite is priced by variety and grade, slab size, thickness and finish, and by fabrication: edge profiles, sink and hob cut-outs, backsplashes and installation. Exotic and imported colours sit higher than common Indian blacks and greys. Granite needs little care: seal lighter and more porous varieties once installed, wipe with mild soap and water, and avoid harsh chemicals that can dull the polish.

Granite questions
Which granite is best for a kitchen countertop?
Dense, low-porosity granites such as Black Galaxy and Absolute Black are very popular. Speckled granites hide marks well. Choose 20 mm or more for counters, with a polished or leather finish.
Does granite need sealing?
Dark, dense granites rarely need it; lighter, more porous granites benefit from sealing after installation and every few years.
Is granite good for outdoor use?
Yes. Granite resists weather and wear. Use a flamed or leather finish on steps and paving for slip resistance.
Can I see granite slabs before buying?
Yes — visit our Display Center in Shela (Mon–Sat 10 am – 7 pm · Sun 10 am – 2 pm) or ask us for photos of current lots on WhatsApp.
Do you fabricate granite countertops?
Yes. We template on site, cut sink and hob openings, profile edges and install the counters.
