Statuario marble in Ahmedabad Statuario, the sculptor’s marble
A bright white Italian marble with bold, graphic grey veining — the classic choice for book-matched walls and statement floors.
About Statuario marble
Statuario comes from the Apuan Alps above Carrara in Tuscany, the same mountains that supplied marble to Renaissance sculptors — hence its name. It is one of the rarest and most admired Italian marbles: a luminous, slightly translucent white ground crossed by bold grey (sometimes gold-toned) veins that can run in wide, dramatic sweeps.
Because it is quarried in limited volumes and the most prized slabs combine a clean white ground with well-defined veining, Statuario sits at the premium end of Italian marble. Each slab is genuinely unique, which is why we recommend choosing your actual slabs at our Display Center.
Best uses
- Book-matched feature walls behind sofas, beds and in double-height foyers.
- Living and dining floors laid in large format with matched veining.
- Bathroom walls and vanities, often honed for a softer look.
- Table tops, consoles and fireplace surrounds.
Finishes and care
Polished Statuario shows its full depth and contrast; honed gives a soft, contemporary matt look with better slip resistance. Like all marble, it should be sealed and cleaned with pH-neutral products — avoid acidic spills on polished surfaces. For a busy kitchen counter, compare it with Taj Mahal quartzite.
Statuario price factors
Price depends heavily on grade: whiteness of the ground, the boldness and balance of veining, slab size and thickness, and whether you need book-matched pairs. Tell us your areas and we will show you slabs across a range of grades.

Is Statuario the same as Carrara marble?
Both come from the Carrara region, but Statuario has a whiter ground and bolder, more dramatic veining, while Carrara is greyer with finer, softer veins.
Is Statuario marble good for flooring?
Yes, in living, dining and bedroom areas. Seal it after installation and use pH-neutral cleaners to protect the polish.
Why is Statuario expensive?
It is quarried in limited volumes, and slabs with a clean white ground and balanced veining are rare.
